All Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) Notes

The **CAT Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)** section is historically known as the most challenging and unpredictable part of the Common Admission Test. Designed to evaluate your analytical mindset, data processing speed, and unstructured problem-solving skills, this section is a critical decider for getting calls from the top IIMs.

Unlike traditional exams that test pure mathematical formulas, CAT DILR focuses on your ability to break down highly complex raw data and untangle complex logical puzzles under strict time constraints.

* **Section Weightage:** Approximately 20 questions out of the total CAT exam paper
* **Time Limit:** Exactly 40 minutes (sectional time limit with no cross-navigation)
* **Data Interpretation (DI) Core Topics:** Caselets, complex tables, charts (pie, bar, line, radar), data sufficiency, and missing data grids
* **Logical Reasoning (LR) Core Topics:** Arrangements (linear, circular, matrix), games and tournaments, cubes and network diagrams, selection and groupings, and truth-teller puzzles
* **Question Breakdown:** A mix of standard Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Type In The Answer (TITA) questions requiring numeric inputs
* **Preparation Strategy:** Focus on data familiarity and puzzle-selection strategy rather than memorizing formulas, as choosing the right sets to solve determines your sectional percentile
